About this species
A bright, acrobatic Pacific salmon known as silver salmon, popular with sport anglers for its aggressive strikes. It matures quickly and readily chases flashy lures near the surface. Spinners, spoons and streamer flies in estuaries and rivers are effective.

White gum lines on both jaws and black spots only on the upper lobe of the tail fin distinguish coho from chinook salmon.
