About this species

A widespread, torpedo-shaped mullet abundant in Korean estuaries, harbors and river mouths, often seen leaping. It grazes on algae, detritus and tiny organisms in muddy shallows. Bread, dough and small hooks with berley, or snag rigs, are used to catch these surface-schooling fish.

Similar Species

So-iuy mullet (Liza haematocheila, 가숭어) shares Korean waters but has a thicker upper lip and a larger adipose eyelid; habitat and size help separate the two.
