
Clupea pallasii
A silver, schooling herring of cold northern seas, historically vital to Korean and Japanese fisheries and cuisine. It filter-feeds on plankton and spawns in massive coastal aggregations. Small sabiki rigs and jigs take them when winter schools move inshore.
